Have you ever heard the saying, "All hat, no cattle"? That pretty much describes the state of video production in Mid-Missouri. The amount of companies claiming to be experts in video production has quadrupled in the last five years and when you visit their websites you are inundated by the bravado of their claims. They may have a self promotion video of their ability but very little "cattle" in their pens. Baker Digital Marketing has a thirty year track record of over 1,000 productions and we are proud to share them. Below are a few but we'll be happy to show as many as you want. Corporate, government, educational, and non-profits, and we have the finest array of video production gear in the area.
Thom Baker, the owner of Baker Digital Marketing, came to Columbia from Kansas City in 1971 to attend Mizzou. As a member of Phi Gamma Delta (FIJI), he worked with two fraternity brothers to bring the first disco to Columbia, "Deja Vu". As the music guru, Baker became the first disc jockey at the club. He started providing portable disco systems in 1975 with "Discotron Music Systems". In the late 70's Thom and partner Brad Gaines started the "Road Apple Party Palace" which provided a rental party facility to the Mizzou student body and other groups. In 1982, teaming with Fred DeMarco, T. Baker's Pub opened. Discotron Music Systems turned into "Thom Baker Sound and Video" with the addition of video production. Soon after, the company acquired Betacam SP video gear and Arri 16mm film cameras and the company became "Baker Film and Video". Robert Boldt, veteran cinematographer, was significant in bringing film techniques to the production process. When high definition digital cameras were introduced the company became "Baker HD" and with the growth of web services finally changed to "Baker Digital Marketing". Jack Smith, former Group President of The Leo Burnett Agency and member of the Advertising Hall of Fame, and Thom began a professional relationship in the early 2000's producing numerous projects for Mizzou, Missouri Health Care, Ellis Fischel Cancer Center, and other profit and non-profit organizations. Along the way, Baker has produced a series on the Montgomery GI Bill for the Veterans Administration and other government projects for The Department of Defense, Missouri Department of Natural Resources, Army Reserves, Missouri Department of Corrections, MSTA, MSHSAA, Department of Health and Human Services, NAASAA, The City of Columbia, and the State of Missouri. Other national clients have included Melitta Coffee, The Thomas Jefferson Society, IMG College Marketing, Ford Motor Company, Westinghouse, Maytag, George Foreman Products, Skil-Bosch, American Tool, Dupont and Home Front Productions. Baker prefers to work close to home with local and regional clientele at this stage of his career. MBS Textbook, FCS Financial, Socket Internet, SBR Anesthesia Associates, Shelter Insurance, The Insurance Group, Columbia Insurance, Missouri Heart Center, The Heartland, Endeavor Agency, Show Me Shortline, Harper Evans Wade Netemeyer, Eng and Woods, Big Tree Medical, Holder Susan Slusher, Miller Law Office, Atkins Companies, ASI, and Manor Roofing are among the many concerns Baker Digital Marketing has done video production, web design, SEO, and social media campaigns. Baker Digital Marketing has done work gratis or at highly discounted rates for non-profits such as Central Missouri Food Bank, Central Missouri Honor Flight, Love Coffee, Armchair Telethons, Great Rivers Council, American Heart Association, Tigers on the Prowl, Move Forward Columbia, The Boo Radley Foundation, Central Missouri Humane Society, Columbia - The Legacy Project, and the Boone County Historical Society.

RECOMmENDATIONS

It is my pleasure to recommend Thom Baker and Baker Digital Marketing as a dependable, reasonable, creative production source. I have worked with Thom for over 20 years now and will, hopefully, work with him for 20 more. Thom is a one man show, so  direct communication on your project is never a problem. His production instincts are excellent, be it casting, film editorial or strategies.  Thom has a good understanding of what the consumer will like and respond to because Thom is an accomplished performer himself.  It’s never boring with Thom. He is as adept at music editorial as anyone I’ve ever worked with, keeping the  integrity of the song in mind as he makes a piece of music fit the copy. I do believe you get more for your money with Thom than any other production source in mid Missouri.

Baker Digital Marketing provided the Great Rivers Council with videos promoting the Lake of the Ozarks Scout Reservation which generated interest across the mid-west. Thom is dedicated to his craft. He is willing to go the extra mile for great footage and will work with you until you are satisfied with the final product.

Greg Baker - Great Rivers Council

A lot of new faces in Columbia on the video production scene but none of them can come close to their experience, knowledge, professionalism, and an unbelievable array of production gear. It's hard to believe we found this kind of quality with great pricing in central Missouri.

G.K. Johnson -  Boo Radley Foundation

I'm happy to recommend Baker Digital Marketing!

I've known Thom Baker and his work for 30 years, but our first opportunity to collaborate was in 2015. I conceived and wrote the script for a corporate video and specified all the visual images. Thom produced the video. Since the project was to present a very buttoned-down concept in a fun and attention-grabbing way, Thom was ... very ... creative in selecting those visual images. He faithfully produced the video as conceived, but the final result was was far more compelling for his creative contribution.

Our second collaboration was in 2018, to produce a series of very short pieces for a historical society. While my goal was complete at least 12-to-15 short videos in the allotted time, I went in with 37 scripts. I was well-organized, and so was Thom. We recorded all 37 pieces, most requiring multiple takes! I requested several backgrounds to be dropped in behind the green-screen pieces. Again, Thom went way beyond my expectations and gave us at least 15 backgrounds, creating much more visual variety. Thom also bent over backwards in helping the historical society adapt the pieces to their foundation website.

I look forward to the opportunity to work with Thom again!

Patrick Lee - Professional Speaker, Actor & Writer

Thom is a true professional. I have worked with him on numerous video projects and always receive great service and a top quality product. I would recommend him highly.

Cord Harper - Endeavor Agency

I have worked with Thom on several projects, and he has done a terrific job with each! He understands how to make an idea into reality and often even contributes to the idea with unique and creative flare.  Projects come out looking professional and polished!

Miranda Walker - University of Missouri

Thom is a real pro.  He works fast and he knows a ton of valuable methods, tricks, skills, etc, to make any video project turn out terrifically well.  I had some modest background work in directing and editing and I had a specific point of view about how I wanted my last project to be edited.  Thom was willing to listen to me, work to help me find what was in my 'mind's eye' instead of trying to dictate to me what he thought it should be.  That makes all the difference.  Working with Thom was a really good collaborative experience.

Chris Campbell - Boone County Historical Society

My organization needed not only a website but promotional and educational videos. Baker Digital did both for the proposals we were receiving  for only doing the website. Easy to work with, very creative and always happy to meet with us. Thom said he wouldn't be happy until we were happy.

We're very happy!

Dr. Rick McGuire - Power of Positive Coaching

Thom Baker is knowledgeable, creative, easy going and always fun to work with. Take a moment and check out his amazing work - it speaks for itself!  You can't go wrong with Baker Digital Marketing!

Sarah Hunvald Lang - The Ink Factory

I've worked with Thom on two separate charity projects, Tigers on the Prowl and Love Coffee. In both cases his work was excellent and timely. I'm looking forward to the next time we can work together.

Chuck Crews - Tigers on the Prowl, Love Coffee

Thom is a pro, best in the business, and we are lucky he is right here in COMO! He's done two commercials for Biker's Rx, and they are perfect for our clientelle! We have them on our website as well as use them on the annual High Seas Rally Cruise. Whatever your budget, Thom can produce something fantastic that will help attract buyers to your product or service. He's creative, intuitive, reasonably priced, and it's a blast working with him. Highly recommend!!!
